Drawing is a wonderful way to communicate ideas, express yourself, and it’s so relaxing! You can draw from photos, landscapes or just about anything you see in the world around you. For each project In this workshop, we’ll learn to compose a page. Whether structured or freeform, these pages will allow you to communicate ideas, record experiences, or plan more finished artwork. We’ll use simple, inexpensive materials that free you from a perfectionist orientation.

In addition to the references, I’ve provided templates to help you organize your designs and compose your images on the page. Good drawing takes thought and practice, like anything that you pursue. To help you achieve success, I will teach you my five-step process for creating any drawing with confidence and style.

We are going to focus on natural, organic subjects that are very forgiving and don’t have to be exact. The elements can’t be messed up or interpreted as “wrong”. There are no straight lines, faces, buildings or complicated man-made objects; just organic shapes. The subjects promote a contemplative and relaxed approach. This is practical, real-world drawing for artists, painters, and observers of the world. I really want you to experience the joy of drawing without limitations of cost, intimidation or perfectionism! I don’t want anything to hold you back! As your skills increase, you can tackle perspective and more manmade subjects if you are inclined, but for now, we are going to stay in the realm of nature!
