Course Contents

Each chapter focuses on a Study or a Step By Step Demo

Chapter 1:
Getting Started

This workshop is a sanctuary where conventions are challenged and creativity is unhinged, allowing you to tap into the profound emotional power of color and form, free from dependence on  photo references.. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced artist, I invite you to embrace this opportunity to invent and refine your unique style, to paint with more freedom and authority, and to discover a more expressive, authentic, and uninhibited form of artistic expression. Welcome to a world where your art can truly resonate and be a mirror to your soul.

Chapter 2:
Quiet Bouquets

This chapter includes four exquisite still life artworks, each capturing the essence of tranquility and beauty. I showcase the versatility of pastels in depicting delicate floral arrangements, from pink roses in a cream vase against a muted background to the striking contrast of a red rose and white chrysanthemum in deep shadows. It includes the sunlit warmth of peonies in a translucent vase, and concludes with an intimate portrayal of white roses in a red jar, set against a dance of light and shadow. Each piece in this chapter beautifully illustrates the subtleties of light, color, and texture, inviting the viewer into a serene world of quiet bouquets.

Chapter 3:
From the Garden

This chapter features three evocative artworks that draw inspiration from the beauty of garden flowers. The first, “Spring Flowers in a Jar,” captures the dance of light on magenta roses and cream blossoms in a mason jar, emphasizing texture and mood. “Mixed Garden Bouquet” vividly portrays a diverse array of flowers in a cobalt blue vase, symbolizing the exuberance of summer. Lastly, “Sunflowers” brings to life the joyful energy of sunflowers against a sky-like backdrop, infused with personal touches and a palette of vibrant yellows and warm oranges. This chapter is a celebration of nature’s beauty, guiding artists to translate the essence and emotion of garden blooms into pastel masterpieces.

Chapter 4:
Single Blossoms

Join me as we explore the profound beauty of individual flowers. The first piece, a pink rose, is a study in simplicity and elegance, with its blush tones set against a stark backdrop, highlighting the interplay of light and texture. The second artwork focuses on a single dahlia, its deep magenta petals commanding attention against a muted background, reflecting strength and fragility. The final painting portrays a tulip in vibrant reds and oranges, gracefully contrasting with a pastel backdrop, emphasizing its transient beauty. Each painting in this chapter is a celebration of the singular charm of these blossoms, inviting viewers to appreciate the quiet power and serene beauty of individual flowers.

Chapter 5:
Elegantly Simple

Here we discover two artworks that highlight the elegance and vibrancy of nature. The first piece captures the essence of summer with yellow lilies in a clear vase, their vivid petals set against a tranquil background. The painting focuses on the fluidity of the flowers and the light’s interplay with the glass, creating an ethereal quality and emphasizing the simple beauty of life. The second artwork contrasts this with yellow lilies in a classic ginger jar. The bright blooms, rendered in sunny yellows and greens, glow against the jar’s intricate blue and white design, symbolizing a blend of organic vibrancy and structured elegance. Both paintings in this chapter explore the harmony of contrasts and celebrate nature’s beauty, inviting viewers to appreciate the graceful and serene presence of flowers in our lives.

Chapter 6:
Capstone Bouquets

Our floral celebration culminates with three diverse compositions, each a testament to the versatility and depth of the medium. “Periwinkle Fantasy” bursts with a dynamic blend of blues and violets in a bold vase, set against a dreamy backdrop, capturing the energy of an abstract garden. “Market Bouquet” contrasts this with a small textured vase holding vibrant flowers against muted foliage, exploring the emotional interplay of color. Lastly, “Loose Freeform Bouquet” embraces minimalism, using color and light to suggest the shapes of a bouquet, highlighting the power of negative space and the beauty of understatement. Together, these pieces encapsulate the series’ exploration of floral art, from vivid expression to subtle suggestion.

Chapter 7:

Thank you for taking this journey with me. We conclude emphasizing importance of self-evaluation for artistic growth.I present a self-critique checklist that encourages artists to focus on the positives and core ideas of their work, assess aspects like theme, value, color, and composition, and consider simplification for clarity. Additionally, this chapter provides a rich list of resources for further study, including art books on bouquets, flowers, creativity, color theory, and notable artists.
