We’re thrilled to announce “Garden Plein Air + Personal Mentoring,” a two-day workshop retreat with Marla Baggetta. This engaging event marks Marla’s first in-person workshop in over four years, providing a unique opportunity for artists at all levels to immerse themselves in the serene world of plein air painting. Nestled within Marla’s picturesque garden studio, this workshop effortlessly marries creativity and tranquility, offering an experience that fosters artistic growth.
Enjoy 1 Full Day of Plein Air Instruction and 1 Full Day of Personal Mentoring and Critiques with optional painting time throughout the day . Students are encouraged to bring 5-6 pieces for review and are free to work in any preferred medium for Plein Air!

With ample and easy parking available and an environment free of stairs or physical obstacles, the workshop is designed to be accessible for all. It provides an ideal environment for those who might find traditional plein air settings challenging.

Workshop Schedule
Day 1:
Plein Air Instruction in Marla's Garden Studio
Day 1 unfolds beneath the open sky, as Marla introduces you to the beautiful challenge of plein air painting. You’ll learn to absorb the inspirations found in the vibrant life of Marla’s garden, transforming your observations into impactful artwork. The day is interspersed with practical exercises that acquaint you with the joys of painting outdoors and fine-tuning your artistic intuition.
After a garden-side lunch, the afternoon blooms with Marla guiding you through capturing the dynamic play of light, shadow, and color unique to natural environments.
Day 2:
Critiques and Personal Mentoring
Day 2 begins, we dive deep into a full day of personalized critiques and mentoring sessions. You’ll present 5-6 of your own paintings for Marla’s expert review, providing you with a deeper understanding of your strengths, opportunities for improvement, and guidance in fostering your unique artistic voice.
Throughout this day of intensive feedback and mentoring, you’re provided with the freedom to choose your own path. You can opt to attend these insightful critique sessions, or you might find yourself inspired to continue painting within the beautiful bounds of Marla’s garden.

Don’t worry about the supplies needed for the workshop. We’ll be sending out an email with a comprehensive list of all the supplies you’ll need. Please keep an eye on your inbox so you’ll be fully prepared for the workshop.
Given the intimate nature of this workshop, limited to only 12 students, our refund policy is as follows: We are able to process refunds up until the end of July. This allows us to ensure that every spot is filled and that the workshop can run smoothly. After this date, we are unable to provide refunds due to the costs associated with planning and securing resources for the event. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this policy.
