109 – Watercolor Sketching Lesson – Elk Rock Garden

Watercolor and gardens just seem to naturally go together! Sitting in the middle of a garden with a sketchbook and some watercolors is my idea of heaven! Although I painted this lesson in my studio so it could be filmed, I was transported to this beautiful spot while I was working as I hope you are. I used watercolor and pen to capture this tranquil scene and included quite a bit of detail. Getting the values correct so the foreground reads in shadow and not getting too heavy with the watercolor is definitely the most challenging aspect of this lesson. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed painting it!

Happy Painting,
